This design is based around ancient Tibetan thangkas. It features a peaceful deer in the center, a symbol of serenity, calm, harmony and peace in traditional Buddhist art. The deer wears a headdress of antique Tibetan jewelry, and lays upon a cloud of stylized lotus petals, as depicted in thangka designs. Above the deer’s head floats a parasol of peacock feathers, casting a shadow of spiritual protection, and embroidered fabrics drape over its back. Intricately carved, silver-clad conch shell trumpets hover, while lotus and wisteria flowers represent purity and humility. Gentle cranes flank the front of the garment, symbolizing longevity and wisdom. This silk twill blouse is French seamed throughout and has a boxy fit with gently voluminous sleeves. The stiffened stand collar frames the neckline, and the cast metal buttons hang like precious charms from the center front and cuffs.
