This High Neck Top is designed, printed and made in England from our sand-washed silk crepe Marocain; This flattering silk has a thick and buttery feel with a dusky, matte finish. This is a loose fit top with a standing collar, hip-length hemline and full-length sleeves. The garment is French seamed throughout and finished with a delicate pin hem. This top fastens with an invisible center-back zipper.
This design references many elements of the arts and culture of Edo-period Japan. It features a pair of black tailed jackrabbits on the center front, each wearing a miniature kawari kabuto (strange helmet), featuring stylised metal and lacquer rabbit ears. These helmets are based on true artefacts from Edo-period Japan. Behind the protagonists is a layered, grassy hillside which sweeps elegantly around the entire garment in one flattering and elegant motion. The landscape is teeming with white rabbits and silver reeds, and a round, glowing moon in the sky. Throughout the design, details and measurements are noted in Japanese hand-script, echoing ancient zoological manuscripts from the 17th century. A stamp/seal bearing a silhouetted rabbit and the name Sabina Savage brands the back of the garment
